Peelaway 7 Paint and Varnish Remover – 750 g

Peelaway 7 is a highly effective paint and varnish remover that facilitates the removal of multiple layers of modern industrial and domestic coatings in one application. The formulation is a low-odour, methylene chloride-free, non-caustic paste that is easy to use and naturally degradable. This product is suitable for a variety of intricate surfaces, including wood, plaster, brick, masonry, and metal. It is also recommended for applications on veneer, plywood, and aluminium, and is frequently specified by architects for various projects. Safety precautions include avoiding use on certain plastics, such as polycarbonate and Perspex, and it is advised to test before use on unskimmed drywall. It is essential to carry out a test patch first to ensure effective results. Recommended test patches should measure between 75 x 75mm to 300 x 300mm. The paste should be applied at a thickness of between 1-6mm, depending on the type, age, and number of layers of the coating. Following the application, place the Peelaway blanket print-side out onto the paste, gently rub to remove air, and pierce any bubbles. The blanket should be left on for a period ranging from 2 to 48 hours, influenced by the coating type and thickness. For areas with varying elevations, multiple test patches should be assessed to account for possibly different coatings and the effects of weather on exterior surfaces. Removal involves inserting a spatula into the paste and gently lifting a section away. If the original surface is visible, the test patch can be taken off, and the surface can be wiped with a damp sponge. If paint residues remain, it’s necessary to reapply the test patch and evaluate after several hours. As each project may yield different results, conducting test patches is critical. Insufficient application time may lead to incomplete stripping, whereas excessive duration may risk damaging the substrate or result in the blanket and paste becoming too hard and challenging to clean.
