The GLOTRENDS PA12 M.2 PCIe Adapter enables installation of both an M.2 NVMe SSD and an M.2 SATA SSD on a computer. The M.2 NVMe SSD is installed in the lower slot (M Key), while the M.2 SATA SSD is placed in the upper slot (B Key). The adapter features two separate data channels: the NVMe SSD connects to the PCIe X4 interface, while the SATA SSD connects to the SATA III interface, which requires a SATA cable (included) to connect to the motherboard.
This adapter is FCC and CE certified for reliable performance at PCIe X4 speeds. The M.2 NVMe SSD operates at full speed, as if directly installed on the motherboard. To achieve PCIe 4.0 X4 (64Gbps) speeds, ensure that the CPU, motherboard PCIe slot, and M.2 NVMe SSD all support PCIe 4.0 (note that PCIe 4.0 is not supported on Intel CPUs earlier than the 11th generation).
The adapter supports OS booting from the M.2 NVMe SSD; however, installation of the operating system and configuration of the BIOS/UEFI boot settings is necessary. Older motherboards may not support OS booting in which case M.2 NVMe SSDs can be used purely as storage drives. Compatibility includes plug and play in Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8, Linux, and Mac OS. It is worth noting that while Windows 7 supports M.2 SATA SSDs, M.2 NVMe SSDs are not supported.
Before use, the new M.2 NVMe SSD must be initialized and formatted to be recognised by the computer host.
