When you pull the trigger, the LCD shows readings with a SCAN icon, and once released, it switches to a HOLD icon to retain the measurement. It includes a built-in 8-second automatic power-off function to conserve battery life.
The thermometer has a preset emissivity of 0.95, suitable for most organic materials, painted or oxidised surfaces. For shiny or polished metal surfaces, accurate readings can be obtained by using masking tape or flat black paint to cover the target area; ensure the tape or painted surface is at the same temperature as the material beneath.
The device requires two AAA batteries for power (not included).
