Timber Drum Co. Slapstick Instrument, 18″ Solid Hickory

Timber Drum Co. offers a unique 18-inch slapstick instrument, handcrafted in Nashville, Tennessee, from locally sourced solid Tennessee hickory. This percussion instrument mimics the sharp sound of a whip crack, making it ideal for orchestral settings or holiday performances. The slapstick allows you to play with one hand while keeping your other hand free for other instruments. Its innovative design incorporates two pieces of hickory, shaped and sanded to produce an authentic whip-crack sound without the clunking noise associated with lower-quality instruments. The slapstick features a thinner 7 mm bottom piece and a thicker 1 cm top piece, allowing for a smoother and more musical tone that blends seamlessly in any ensemble. With an overall length of 18 inches, it is capable of producing plenty of volume to fill concert halls and theatres. Additionally, a strong, flexible nickel-plated steel hinge offers control over sound dynamics, enhancing versatility during performances. This instrument is not only perfect for classic pieces like Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride” and Benjamin Britten’s “The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra,” but also for contemporary works. Every purchase contributes to supporting an American company and employs Tennessee workers, reflecting a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
