Blagdon Green Away is specifically formulated to address green water in ponds, often described as having a ‘pea soup’ appearance due to suspended algae. This treatment effectively removes suspended algae by clumping them together, which allows the particles to either settle at the bottom or be captured by the pond’s mechanical filtration system. Importantly, Green Away is non-toxic and safe for all species of pond fish, plant life, and other aquatic wildlife.
When using Green Away, it’s essential to first determine the volume of your pond water. Shake the bottle thoroughly to ensure the active ingredients are mixed properly. After removing the dosage chamber cap and foil seal, squeeze the bottle to fill the chamber to the required level. The recommended dosage is 1 x 25ml for every 500 litres (110 gallons) of pond water. It is advisable to mix the treatment in a bucket of pond water before distributing it evenly across the surface of the pond. This product acts as a single-dose treatment; however, if necessary, a second dose can be applied after 5 days.
To maximise the effectiveness of the treatment, ensure the pond has adequate aeration during the application, and to prevent reoccurring algae growth, it is recommended to remove any dead algae as they accumulate.
